Today is Our Day

In the spirit of yesterday’s post, I thought I’d bite the bullet and take you behind the scenes of our Suitcase Magazine  trip to Cape Town, where we are currently on research for our December 2013 issue. Issue 4 is available to purchase from today (although currently sold out, woop woop)  – but you’ll be able to buy it online here very soon. Today we travelled to Stellenbosch, a sleepy town 45-minutes outside Cape Town, famous for its wine routes, cute cafes and historic buildings.  It was hard to get up this morning, mainly because of this…

Hello Larsson & Jennings watch

One sexy Larsson & Jennings watch and one big mountain

But we were lured out by prospect of breakfast at Boutique Manolo overlooking Table Mountain…

(Seb ate most of the croissants. Naughty)

As our tummies are seemingly now bottomless, we headed out to the country, moving onto cheese and wine tasting at Fairview Wine and Cheese, in Paarl. For a nominal fee, you pair 6 wines with a variety of medium to strong cheeses – the staff are super knowledgeable and (if you’re ok with being a bit tipsy at 11am), you can spend hours there.

We then did a bit of sightseeing. I feel like other countries always do monuments a lot more beautifully than the brits…

(although a filter always helps)

Afterwards we took a customary married couple shot with a view behind us…

All wined out, we continued our pursuit as international cake perverts in Stellenbosch. This pretty town 45-minutes from Cape Town is brimming with life, energy and great coffee spots. We fell in love with Dipped Confections, with its cutesy decor…

We moved onto Stellenbosch; where we took photos of cute cafes and cupcakes.

Comme ca

It’s a great place to do very French things. We sat in a quaint little square, drinking espressos (twats)…

And had sushi for lunch in a quaint little square

Vegetable purchasing at Schoon de Companje potentially one of the coolest bakeries / cafes / galleries I’ve ever seen. The whole place smells of fresh cinnamon buns – need I say more.

And another wine tasting at Delaire Graff Estate, which is wonderfully grand with views of all Cape Town...

And ended our day celebrating Issue Four’s success sitting at the OOC bar, the perfect spot for an evening drink…
